Gameplay background video maker

Story on top, hypnotic motion underneath. Vidsy loops a background clip for exactly as long as the narration runs, then lays captions and any viral template over it.

  • Background library across eight categories, plus your own uploads
  • Clips loop automatically to match the length of the narration
  • Frame is never dimmed — the background you chose is the background you get
  • Works with every viral template, especially chat and Reddit stories

Why the format refuses to die

It looks like a joke about attention spans, and it keeps working anyway. Continuous predictable motion holds peripheral attention while the actual content — narration and captions — occupies the centre. Nothing in the footage demands interpretation, so nothing competes with the story.

The requirements are specific: no faces, no cuts, no narrative, no text of its own. Footage that fails any of those steals attention instead of holding it.

The built-in library

Eight categories, all normalised to vertical 1080×1920 and cleared for this use:

  • Gameplay — parkour and endless runners, the classic pairing for chat and story videos
  • Satisfying — slime, cutting, pressure-washing; the strongest hold on pure scroll-stopping
  • Driving — night drives and POV road footage, good under calmer narration
  • Aerial — drone shots for travel and geography topics
  • Nature, city, abstract, sports — for when the topic suggests its own imagery

Uploads go through the same pipeline: normalised to vertical, poster frame extracted, then available in your picker.

Looping, dimming and other details

The background loops for the exact duration of the voiceover, so you never need a clip as long as the video. A three-minute cap on library clips exists for that reason — longer files cost storage and buy nothing.

One deliberate difference from the scene-based mode: background videos are not darkened. In scene mode the footage is dimmed so captions stay readable over unpredictable stock. Here you picked the background on purpose, and dimming it would ruin the thing you picked it for. Caption contrast is handled by outline and backing instead.

Frequently asked questions

Can I upload my own gameplay footage?

Yes. It is normalised to vertical, gets a poster frame, and appears in your picker. Upload limits depend on your plan.

Is the library footage licensed for commercial use?

The built-in library is cleared for use in videos made with Vidsy, including monetised ones. Footage you upload yourself is your licence to hold.

How long should a background clip be?

Thirty seconds is plenty — it loops. Library clips are capped at three minutes for that reason.

Does the gameplay background cost extra?

No. It replaces per-scene stock footage rather than adding to it, and it is actually slightly cheaper to render.
