The format works because it reads like eavesdropping
A fake-texting video asks almost nothing of the viewer. There is no presenter to trust, no intro to sit through — just a conversation unfolding one bubble at a time over something visually busy enough to hold the eye. The tension does the retention work.
The craft is in the rhythm. Bubbles that appear all at once kill it instantly, and so do bubbles that drift out of sync with the voice. Most tools guess timing from character count; Vidsy measures the synthesised audio and places each bubble on the real waveform.

Why the pricing is per changed line
Voice synthesis is the one genuinely expensive step, so charging for it carelessly punishes editing. Vidsy caches every synthesised line by the hash of its text and voice.
Fix a typo in message four and message four is the only thing that goes to the voice engine — the other eleven come back from cache for free. Re-exporting a project you did not touch costs nothing at all. Before any re-voice you get an itemised quote: how many lines changed, what it costs, and how that compares to generating the video from scratch.
Picking a background that does not compete
Chat videos need visual motion underneath but no visual competition. The built-in library is organised for exactly that: gameplay (parkour and endless-runner footage), satisfying, aerial, driving, nature, abstract, city and sports.
Gameplay is the conventional choice for a reason — it is continuously moving, has no faces, and carries no narrative of its own to distract from the text. You can also upload your own clip.

Can each character have a different voice?
Yes. Assign a voice per participant, and override it on individual lines when one message needs to sound different — a shout, a whisper.
How is the bubble timing decided?
From the real duration of the synthesised speech. Before the first voicing, the editor estimates from text length and says so; after voicing, the timings are measured, and bubbles sit exactly on the audio.
What does a fake texting video cost?
One token per 200 characters of voiced text, plus two tokens for each premium voice used. Silent chats — bubbles with no narration — are free. Unchanged lines are never re-charged.
Can I edit the conversation after generating it?
Yes, at any point. Change the text, reorder messages, adjust pauses, then re-voice. Vidsy warns you before anything costs tokens and mutes the outdated take automatically.
